Just Flight has unveiled its latest airport scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator: Tenerife North Airport (GCXO). Located in the Canary Islands, this is one of two airports serving Tenerife, and became famous as the location of the world’s deadliest aviation accident in history, when two Boeing 747s collided on the runway in 1977.
Just Flight’s team is big and works on many different projects. Aircraft are, perhaps, the most notable product released from the studio so far, but they also work on airports such as this one. Interestingly, they seem to have a keen interest in insular Spanish airports: before Tenerife, we saw Just Flight release Lanzarote Airport and Palma de Mallorca Airport.
Tenerife is part of Spain’s Canary Islands archipelago. Situated off the northwest coast of Africa, the Canary Islands serve as a crucial link between Europe, Africa, and the Americas. Tenerife North Airport, in particular, is strategically positioned to serve as an inter-island hub, connecting all seven of the main Canary Islands.
While international flights often land at Tenerife South (which is also available as a custom scenery for MSFS, from sim-wings), Tenerife North plays a vital role in connecting the Canary Islands themselves. This makes it an essential part of the local economy and transportation network, facilitating travel and commerce between the islands.
Just Flight says their rendition of Tenerife North Airport was made with “obsessive precision”, featuring high-definition PBR textures and objects, all modeled from photos shot on location, animated jetways, custom vehicles roaming the tarmac, and plenty of other details that bring this airport to life in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
If island hopping in the Canary Islands is your dream, perhaps with Binter’s ATR 42/72s, then this airport is just the perfect scenery to invest in. Just Flight’s GCXO – Tenerife North Airport is available now from the company’s website, priced at €15.95.
