Digital Design releases another stunner for MSFS: Lyon–Saint-Exupéry Airport

Digital Design has got us used to seeing from them the release of some of the best sceneries for Microsoft Flight Simulator, with a few very impressive renditions of locations such as Salzburg, Sochi, or Leipzig. Now, the talented development team has traveled to France to recreate the country’s fourth busiest airport: Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport (LFLL).

LFLL is the international airport serving the city of Lyon, the third largest in France. It serves flights to all over Europe, handling more than 10 million passengers per year before the pandemic hit in 2020. Like so many other airports, it’s now recovering fast and getting busy during this summer season, as passengers from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region look for a new summer destination.

The most distinctive feature of Lyon Airport is perhaps not directly related to the airport itself, but rather to the railway station that is connected to it. Gare de Lyon Saint-Exupéry, expertly designed by world-famous architect Santiago Calatrava, totally steals the show as passengers and airplanes arrive at the airport.

Obviously, this stunning building is one of the highlights of Digital Design’s re-creation of Lyon Airport for MSFS. But that’s just one of the many impressive aspects of this scenery, which has been beautifully built all around and presents us with some of the most detailed airport environments we’ve seen yet in Microsoft Flight Simulator!

The official product images speak for themselves: Digital Design did a phenomenal job with LFLL. From the very realistic 3D models of the buildings, structures, ground clutter, and much more, which are covered with authentic high-resolution textures, to the extensive interior modeling, animations, and custom vehicles, there’s a lot to see here and appreciate for the sheer artistic quality of the team and immersion of the whole location.

Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport from Digital Design is one of those sceneries that takes full advantage of all the awesome new technologies made available for MSFS, and it’s very recommended for anyone looking to experience a detailed airport in the sim. Everyone should enjoy it greatly, while locals will absolutely love it!
