SULS serves both commercial routes to other cities in Uruguay and nearby countries, and general aviation traffic, which mainly comprises business jets from the rich and famous who find the alluring Punta del Este as the perfect location to enjoy the high life on the South American coast.
Because of Punta del Este’s popularity during the summer months in the southern hemisphere, SULS sees increased traffic at this time, with airliners like the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 bringing in a flock of visitors looking to enjoy some vacations. This makes SULS the second most important airport in Uruguay, after Montevideo airport.
