Just Flight releases the mighty Avro Vulcan for Microsoft Flight Simulator

Today is the day for the howl to be heard in Microsoft Flight Simulator. As promised last week, Just Flight has just released its highly anticipated rendition of the mighty Avro Vulcan, in what is set to be not only a very engaging aircraft to fly in the simulator but also a tribute to its history.

Developed by Just Flight’s in-house team, the Avro Vulcan is a result of extensive, hands-on research with the real-life Vulcan B Mk. 2, XM655, at Wellesbourne Airfield. The package includes the B Mk. 2 strategic bomber and its K.2 Air-to-Air Refuelling and Maritime Radar Reconnaissance (MRR) variants, all of which have been part of the Royal Air Force’s storied past.

From what we’ve seen in previous previews, the Avro Vulcan has been rendered with an extraordinary attention to detail, boasting stunning 8k textures that vividly portray its time in RAF service. The realistic payloads include Blue Steel, 1,000 lb bombs, and bomb bay tanks, and the aircraft features dynamic animations throughout such as wing-flex, multiple door operations, and the unique lift-dumpers and tail-mounted airbrake.

The cockpit of the Just Flight Vulcan comes with hundreds of functional switches, knobs, and controls at both the Captain and Co-Pilot positions. A selection of rear crew panels is also accurately modelled. Pilots in the simulation can engage with custom-coded systems based on real-world manuals, encompassing electrical, fuel, engine systems, and navigation aids like TACAN and VOR.

A key feature of this package is the very realistic and immersive sounds. Just Flight recorded them from the real aircraft, resulting in a highly authentic audio environment that includes the iconic howl of the Olympus 200 Series engine!

The Vulcan B Mk2, a four-engine, delta-wing strategic bomber, was a cornerstone of the UK’s Cold War arsenal. The specific aircraft modelled, XM655, was one of the last Vulcans produced for the RAF and played a crucial role in the UK’s nuclear deterrent force in the 60s and 70s. The K.2 and MRR variants also have a rich history, serving in roles from air-to-air refuelling to maritime radar reconnaissance.

If you’re looking to learn more about what Just Fling is offering with this comprehensive package, you can download the extensive Vulcan Operations Manual and EFB manual for free from the developer’s website.

The Vulcan promises an unparalleled immersive experience for MSFS and is available at a surprisingly accessible price, considering Just Flight’s previous release. Grab it now!
