Microsoft Flight Simulator receiving its first update following the 40th Anniversary Edition

The 40th Anniversary Edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator – and Sim Update 11 – launched earlier this month with aplomb, featuring a lot of new free content for simmers to use and explore in the simulator. The iniBuilds A310, a “true-to-life” airliner that sets new standards for a default airplane in a flight simulator, has arguably been the most popular inclusion in the latest major update to MSFS.

The A310 is a complex airplane that would naturally be prone to receive a significant update soon after release, so iniBuilds and Asobo were quick to address the initial list of issues reported by users and deployed a “beta” patch that could be tested before being released to the entire MSFS user base. This global launch is happening today, with the public release of version of Microsoft Flight Simulator!

This patch is mostly focused on the A310, with plenty of fixes across the whole product. Visuals, Sounds, the EFB, and the systems/FMC have seen numerous improvements, but there are also some general stability fixes (ie, fewer crashes) and even a small retouch on the Cabri G2.

This patch is now available for all MSFS users. Just launch the simulator to get prompted to install it and enjoy a slightly better experience overall, with major improvements to the A310. See below the full release notes!

When enabling Dev Mode, a pop-up may appear which causes the sim to stop accepting input. Closing and relaunching the sim will cause it to accept input and the pop-up can be dismissed. This only occurs the first time Dev Mode is enabled.

IMPORTANT: From SU11 onwards, some restrictions were added on allowed files in an Asset Group of type SimObject (aircraft), see 54 for more info on what files are allowed or not.

Please note that despite what the doc is saying you don’t have to manually edit the definition files to reference extra files that you want to put in your simobject asset groups (the doc will be updated for official release).
