Just Flight shares new development update on the RJ Professional for MSFS

Just Flight continues to push the boundaries with its eagerly awaited RJ Professional for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Following their successful update of the 146 Professional Version 2, the development focus has shifted back to the RJ Professional, promising to elevate the regional jet simulation experience to new heights for MSFS simmers.

Just Flight’s RJ Professional is the next evolution in their regional jet family, following the popular 146 Professional series. Just Flight’s development team has been hard at work enhancing every aspect of the RJ Professional to meet the high expectations of the flight sim community. This week, they returned with the first development update of the year dedicated to this project, which sheds light on significant advancements made in recent months.

The focus has been predominantly on behind-the-scenes coding, which, while not visually spectacular, is crucial for the sophisticated functioning of the aircraft in the simulator.

Cabin and Systems Innovations

A major highlight from the update is the integration of the 146’s passenger cabins into the RJ variants. This not only retains the beloved features of the 146 Professional V2 but also includes adjustments to reflect the nuances between the actual aircraft models, such as modifications to the forward vestibule attendant panel. These subtle yet impactful changes are part of Just Flight’s commitment to authenticity and detail, aiming to reflect the real-world evolution from the 146 to the RJ.

Advanced Features and Autopilot Systems

Just Flight is also integrating advanced features that were well-received in the 146 Professional, including automatic cabin crew and boarding simulations, failures, state saving, and full support for Simbrief and Navigraph charts. The modular nature of these features allows for seamless integration and adaptation across different aircraft models within Just Flight’s lineup.

Significant enhancements are being made to the RJ’s systems, particularly the pressurization and FADEC systems. These systems are being developed from the ground up to provide better fuel economy, increased reliability, and improved performance. The development team is particularly focused on integrating the GNLU-910A FMS with the aircraft’s autopilot, a complex task that promises to significantly enhance navigational capabilities through improved LNAV and VNAV functionalities.

Sound and Liveries

The update also touches on the acoustic aspect, where the highly acclaimed sound set from the 146 Professional will be adapted and expanded to include RJ-specific sounds.

Additionally, the RJ Professional will feature almost 30 high-quality liveries, covering a broad spectrum of the RJ’s service history from its earliest operators to current ones.

Still work to be done

Just Flight’s progress on the RJ Professional for MSFS may currently focus on under-the-hood advancements, but the team promises to begin showcasing the aircraft’s systems soon. There’s still a lot of work ongoing as the package approaches the end of its development, so we’ll continue to track its progress in the coming months. There is no estimated release date yet, but stay tuned for further updates!
