Released! – Orbx renews its love for bush airfields with PNG Highlands Bush Strips Pack 1 for MSFS

Orbx has released a new product aimed at bush pilots: PNG Highlands Bush Strips Pack 1 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This new addition to the MSFS ecosystem is a creation by seasoned indie developer Ken Hall and brings the challenging and scenic world of Papua New Guinea (PNG) bush flying to the virtual skies.

Orbx says that PNG Highlands Bush Strips Pack 1 is designed to offer an unparalleled bush flying experience. The pack includes three airstrips (AYYE, AYYW, AYDN) that serve as lifelines for remote villages in PNG. These airstrips are often carved out by hand by the locals and are subject to some of the world’s most rapidly changing weather conditions.

This pack aims to replicate this challenging environment, complete with custom 3D vegetation, PBR textures, and over 100 custom-built and hand-placed models. The pack is perfect for flying aircraft like the Kodiak, Pilatus Porter, Beaver, Caravan, and Twin Otter, which are often used to deliver essential supplies to these remote areas. If you’ve followed the Missionary Bush Pilot channel on Youtube you’ll be perfectly familiar with the adventures that await you in Papua New Guinea!

This latest release is not an isolated event but rather a continuation of Orbx’s renewed focus on small and challenging airfields. Earlier, Orbx had released Idaho’s Deadly 3: Dewey Moore, Simonds, and Vines Airstrips, a package that brought the thrill of Idaho’s legendary bush strips to MSFS. Created by developer Milo Taylor, the package included airstrips that are legendary among bush pilots for their distinct challenges, such as steep uphill slopes and tricky approaches.

Similarly, the Australian studio had also released S43 Harvey Field and W16 Monroe, two small airfields in the stunning Pacific Northwest. These airfields were a showcase of intricate detail and artistic skills, offering simmers the opportunity to experience the rustic rural charm of the region.

So, whether you’re a seasoned bush pilot or someone looking to dip their toes into this challenging yet rewarding type of flying, Orbx’s PNG Highlands Bush Strips Pack 1 promises to be a very interesting scenery add-on for MSFS.

As the name implies, this is the first of many bush packs to come focused on this region. For now, PNG Highlands Bush Strips Pack 1 is available from Orbx at just around $12.00 USD.
