The Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander is now available for Flight Simulator

It was, indeed, a matter of days. After spotting it just a week ago, we can now report that the Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander from Black Box Simulation is now available for MSFS, directly from the developer’s website.

The BN-2 was born in Britain during the 60s, and has since been serving as a light utility aircraft, still very active today with many commercial and military operators around the world.

In this new release, Black Box Simulation introduces 3 different variants of the BN-2: a BN2-2A-2 base version, the BN2B-20 with the elongated nose and a military version for the Maltese Armed Forces. Also included is a nice selection of liveries, 20 in total.

The Islander also includes a full avionics suite with the AS530 GPS, KAP140 Autopilot, A KX155A Nav Comm II Radio, Custom build KN62 DME, ADF and Transponder.

Black Box Simulation is promising an extremely high-fidelity recreation of the Islander, both inside and outside. They are also promising future free updates, although it’s unclear what kind of updates are planned. Obviously, fixes tweaks are expected to be free, so does Black Box have something in mind for additional features to add in the future? Time will tell!

In the meantime, you can grab the brand new BN-2 Islander for 25€ (it will come to the Marketplace at a later date), a sensible price considering what it looks to be a fairly complete package. We will see, however, how well the Islander has been simulated, but let us know in the comments below what are your thoughts about the Islander.
