Lelystad Airport from Papa Hotel Dutch Scenery Design is now out for MSFS

The home of FSWeekend and the Aviodrome Museum.

Last month, we shared the story of the newly formed Papa Hotel Dutch Scenery Design, a venture from developer Ronald Fleurbaaij that emerged following the dissolution of his partnership with iBlueYonder. Today, we have exciting news: the project that sparked this initiative, EHLE Lelystad Airport in the Netherlands, is now available for Microsoft Flight Simulator!

A virtual rendition of Lelystad Airport for Flight Simulator has been a passion project for Ronald Fleurbaaij, who has now successfully released his creation for the world to see. Lelystad Airport is notable for several reasons: it is the largest general aviation airfield in the region, an important center for flight training, and the host of FSWeekend, Europe’s largest flight simulation-themed event.

This scenery tries to capture the essence of Dutch aviation, featuring detailed elements such as the iconic Aviodrome museum, a bastion of aviation history with an impressive collection of static displays, including a majestic KLM Boeing 747. The project extends beyond mere visual aesthetics, incorporating the soon-to-be operational new terminal building, offering simmers a glimpse into the airport’s future.

As is expected with custom airport scenery, this product delivers a more detailed and accurate representation, using high-resolution PBR textures, detailed aprons, ground markings, and dynamic lighting.

Looking ahead, Papa Hotel Dutch Scenery Design has outlined an ambitious update roadmap for Lelystad Airport’s scenery. Future additions include 3D animated personnel, open hangars, and a toggle feature that allows users to switch between the airport’s current state and its future configuration following the terminal’s activation.

Ronald Fleurbaaij must be very happy to see his passion project realized, a sentiment likely shared by many in our community. It’s these independent developers, alongside the larger studios, who enhance our flight simulation experiences! If you wish to support this work or simply seek a more realistic rendition of Lelystad, it is now available via Contrail for approximately €15.00 + tax.
