VPT – Virtual Performance Tool Now Available for Flight Simulator

As we dive into 2024, there’s always something new and exciting around the corner, and this year is shaping up to be no different. Keeping up with this week’s trend of introducing you to some useful new utilities for MSFS, today we want to shine a spotlight on something special for all the flight sim enthusiasts out there – a new tool called ‘Virtual Performance Tool‘ (VPT). It’s hitting the scene with some big promises, billing itself as “the most advanced performance tool for Flight Simulation.”

Developed with the aim of closely mirroring the tools used by real pilots, VPT offers a comprehensive suite of features designed to enhance the flight planning and execution process. This includes advanced TakeOff Dispatch, Landing Dispatch, Landing Enroute, Weight and Balance calculations, dynamic changes based on NOTAMs, and more.

VPT is a web-based application, which means it can be operated from a wide range of devices, including Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. For the latter, there’s a native app currently in development that seeks to offer an even better experience on touchscreen devices, currently expected to be released in a few months.

Naturally, one of the key highlights of VPT is its advanced TakeOff calculation capabilities, which allows users to determine the optimum derate thrust and maximum regulated takeoff weight, among other critical parameters. This feature is particularly beneficial for simulating realistic takeoff scenarios under various conditions.

For landing, the tool provides detailed calculations for maximum landing weight, taking into account different runway conditions and legal requirements. This feature is complemented by the Landing Enroute function, which offers insights into landing distance requirements and recommended brake cooling schedules.

The Weight and Balance component of the VPT is equally impressive, offering realistic simulations and customizable profiles for different aircraft, including those from popular add-on creators like PMDG. This feature ensures that users can accurately plan and adjust their flights according to specific aircraft characteristics.

Additionally, the tool integrates seamlessly with global NOTAM updates and includes an extensive database of airport information. It also allows for the inclusion of MEL/CDL/NNC items to simulate aircraft performance under various failure scenarios.

The creators of the VPT have emphasized their commitment to accuracy and customer service. Each aircraft variant in the tool contains approximately 20,000 lines of data, cross-checked with real manufacturer tools to ensure precision.

VPT is available in three subscription tiers to cater to different needs and budgets. The entry-level option is priced at €1.99 per month, offering the most basic features. For those seeking the full suite of capabilities, the VPT Pro experience is available at €5.99 per month. Meanwhile, the mid-range option, VPT Standard, priced at €3.99 per month, appears to be the most balanced choice in terms of features and cost.
