Did Captain Sim just release a proper C-130 for Microsoft Flight Simulator?

Captain Sim, a name that has faced its fair share of criticism in the flight sim community, appears to have taken a significant step forward with their latest release for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This time, they have introduced what appears to be a fully featured C-130 Hercules, with a virtual cockpit that was missing on their previous and infamous C-130. Will this release redeem their reputation among MSFS simmers?

After a series of underwhelming releases characterized by incomplete models and lackluster simulations, Captain Sim’s new offering seems to be trying to turn things around. The new C-130 Hercules for MSFS comes with a highly detailed and accurate model developed from scratch, but the real news is inside. There’s now an actual virtual cockpit that Captain Sim claims to feature advanced system simulations, high-resolution textures, hundreds of custom animations, and adjustable lighting.

The exterior of the aircraft is also quite detailed. To be honest, this is an area Captain Sim has excelled in the past. Besides high-resolution textures and accurate 3D modeling, this new C-130 includes animated elements such as the ramp, doors, and Air Force pilots.

Captain Sim’s past offerings for MSFS, notably the criticized exterior-only model of the C-130, left much to be desired. However, this release seems to directly address previous shortcomings, incorporating a virtual cockpit and enhanced external details that the community has long requested.

Could this shift indicate that Captain Sim may have taken community feedback to heart, aiming to deliver a product that aligns more closely with the high standards expected by today’s simmers?

This release could be a turning point for Captain Sim. If the C-130 Hercules meets the community’s expectations, it could significantly bolster the developer’s standing. At least there’s some effort to create something unique and compelling, which is commendable. But, as always, better wait for the first review to see what’s this all about!

The Captain Sim C-130 is available now for MSFS for $39.99 from the developer’s website.
