PMDG’s Boeing 777 releasing within 2 months

By now, you must already have seen the premiere of the first trailer for the PMDG 777 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Following that, Robert S. Randazzo, the CEO of PMDG, went live for a Q&A session, unveiling a plethora of details and insights into what promises to be another landmark release for the MSFS community. This session provided us with further insights into the product, its release schedule, features, and more!

PMDG has been a dominant force in flight simulation, known for their meticulously detailed and highly accurate aircraft models. The Boeing 777, or the “Triple 7” as it’s affectionately known, is PMDG’s latest venture, promising to push the boundaries of what’s possible in airliner simulation in MSFS.

State of Development and Features

Randazzo revealed that the 777 is nearing completion, being in a “very high state of readiness.” As confirmed in the teaser video, the first model to be released will be the 777-300ER, which is also the most popular variant in the real world.

Randazzo explained that the development process is guided by a “build schedule” rather than fixed release dates. This approach ensures that the product meets PMDG’s high standards before being handed over to beta testers for the final seal of approval. Randazzo expressed confidence that the release is within a two-month window, though he refrained from setting a specific date.

The 777-300ER will be the first model released, with its comprehensive features setting the baseline for the forthcoming variants expansion, including the 777-200ER, 777-200LR, and 777F. As expected, the development focuses not just on the aircraft’s exterior but also extends to a highly detailed cabin.

Obviously, PMDG’s airplanes are about much more than an authentic model inside and out. Expect a high-fidelity simulation of the 777’s feature set and capabilities, expanding on what’s possible with the 737 and includes enhanced maintenance tracking features, GSX integration, advanced navigation capabilities, and improved Universal Flight Tablet (UFT) features.

Pricing and Availability

Randazzo assured that pricing for the 777 would align with PMDG’s existing pricing structure, offering flexibility and accessibility to a broad range of flight simulation enthusiasts. Thus, it shouldn’t stray too far from the pricing strategy followed with the 737.

Beyond the 777

While the focus is currently on the Triple 7, Randazzo hinted at ongoing developments, including the much-anticipated 737 MAX, whose rollout is planned to take place amid the 777 release schedule. There were also some hints at a “secret project” under works. This project remains shrouded in mystery for now, with speculation about it possibly being the 787, although a 757 has also been speculated before to be a possibility.

These were the highlights of the Q&A session, but if you’re keen on delving into everything that was discussed, be sure to watch the full video below!
