A surprising announcement today as Aerosoft has just dropped a new airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 – Düsseldorf Airport (EDDL), one of Germany’s busiest hubs. This is a brand-new product, developed exclusively for MSFS 2024 by Jo Erlend Sund and Lukas Veziroglou, two names that have become closely associated with some of the simulator’s most detailed European airports.
If you’ve flown into Frankfurt (EDDF) or Oslo (ENGM) in MSFS, you’ll know what to expect here: a carefully crafted environment with that signature blend of quality and atmosphere. Düsseldorf seems to push that further, leaning into what makes MSFS 2024 unique with that under-the-hood SDK magic that wasn’t possible in the previous sim.
The airport layout is current as of April 2025, and includes custom terrain elevation data and accurate runway profiles. Terminal buildings, airside facilities, and support structures have been modeled in high detail, with custom textures, PBR materials, and interior modeling in visible areas. Aerosoft says the scenery also features realistic night lighting, accurate taxiway signage, and bespoke lighting models for both apron and approach lights.
This scenery also integrates Aerosoft’s VDGS module, featuring Type 2 safedock systems across the apron. All stands are AI-ready and include appropriate airline codes. Jetways are custom-built and match the real airport’s layout and design.
Several points of interest in the surrounding area have also been included, such as the Flughafenbrücke and Rheinturm Tower, helping to establish better visual continuity during arrivals and departures. On the ground, animated passengers, custom apron vehicle traffic, and ICE trains contribute to the simulation of a living airport environment.
Aerosoft notes that a new fire station currently under construction in real life is not yet present in the scenery, but will be added in a future update once the actual building is completed.
Düsseldorf Airport for MSFS 2024 is available now from the Aerosoft store, priced at €16.76 (excluding VAT). The product is built exclusively for the 2024 edition of the simulator and is not compatible with MSFS 2020.
