It’s got to be one of the most hyped scenery releases for Microsoft Flight Simulator yet. Aerosoft really went above and beyond to promote this product ahead of the release, and rightfully so, because it looks absolutely remarkable! Today, virtual pilots worldwide can finally experience the fruits of this labor as Aerosoft’s highly anticipated Frankfurt Airport (EDDF/FRA) becomes available on the platform.
Behind this impressive feat are two talented developers: Jo Erlend and Lukas Vezyroglou. Their expertise and attention to detail have been instrumental in bringing Frankfurt Airport to life in MSFS. The duo’s painstaking work is evident in every aspect of the scenery, from the accurately modeled buildings to the dynamic environment that makes the airport feel alive.
Frankfurt Airport, Germany’s largest commercial aviation hub, has been meticulously recreated in stunning detail. Attention to detail and scenery accuracy are key features of this add-on. From the custom aerial imagery that seamlessly blends with the surrounding landscape to the accurately modeled buildings and facilities throughout the airport, there’s a lot to appreciate here.
A key feature that distinguishes this product is its dynamic environment. Gone are the days of static, lifeless airports. Erlend and Vezyroglou have breathed life into every corner of Frankfurt Airport. Passengers move about inside the terminals, while on the apron, a choreographed dance of ground vehicles tends to aircraft. Meanwhile, custom traffic flows realistically along the nearby autobahn.
The development team has gone to great lengths to ensure accuracy, modeling the airport layout as it stands in September 2024. This includes the new Terminal 3, which, while present in the scenery, remains non-operational – just like IRL. Aerosoft has pledged to activate the terminal in the simulation once it opens in reality.
Frankfurt’s significance in the aviation world cannot be overstated. In 2023, it handled a staggering nearly 60 million passengers, making it one of the busiest airports in Europe and worldwide. It’s also a cargo powerhouse, processing over 2 million tons annually – the largest volume in Europe. As the home base for aviation giants like Lufthansa and Condor Flugdienst, Frankfurt Airport is a crucial nexus in the global air transport network.
For MSFS simmers, this release offers more than just a pretty scenery. It’s an opportunity to immerse oneself in the operations of a major international hub!
