About
msfsaddons.com is an independent publication covering Microsoft Flight Simulator. We report on aircraft, airports, scenery, ATC and ground services, utilities, hardware, and the developers building all of it. Our main focus is the 2024 edition, and we continue to cover MSFS 2020 for the large part of the community still flying there.
Who runs the site
msfsaddons.com was founded and is edited by Vasco Ferreira, who has been flying simulators since the FSX era and working with add-ons for more than 15 years. What started as a personal habit of tracking which mods were worth installing turned into a daily publication.
What we cover
- Daily news across MSFS 2024 and MSFS 2020: releases, updates, delays, announcements, and the occasional bit of community drama when it is worth reporting.
- Reviews of aircraft, scenery, utilities, and hardware, based on hands-on time with the product.
- Developer interviews and behind-the-scenes coverage of projects in progress.
- Guides and recommendations, including the freeware that deserves more attention than it gets.
- Hardware coverage, from yokes and throttles to headsets, tested where possible over extensive periods.
How we work
A few principles hold all of this together.
Developer claims are claims until tested. Most of what we report starts as an announcement, a changelog, or a livestream. We report those as things the developer has said, not as things we have verified. When we have tested something ourselves, you will know, because we will have written a review.
Reviews are hands-on. We do not review products we have not used. Receiving a review copy or a hardware unit never guarantees coverage, and never guarantees positive coverage.
We filter rather than repost. Hundreds of updates land in this ecosystem every week. Our job is to work out which ones are worth your attention and explain why, not to reprint every press release that reaches the inbox.
We correct things. When we get something wrong, we fix it and say what changed.

How the site is funded
Being independent while being funded by the industry we write about is a balance we take seriously, so here is the whole picture:
- Display advertising served through our ad partner
- Direct advertising sold to brands in the flight sim space
- Affiliate links, explained in full in our affiliate disclosure
- Captain’s Club memberships, paid for by readers
None of these buy coverage, an angle, or a favourable review. Advertisers do not see articles before publication and cannot request changes. If you want the reasoning behind that in detail, it is in the editorial and ethics policy.

It also happens to be the only part of our funding that comes with no commercial strings attached, which is a reasonable argument for joining.
