Just Flight’s long-awaited PA-38 Tomahawk is finally available for Microsoft Flight Simulator

The day has finally come! Just Flight has finally released its long-awaited, high-fidelity simulation of the PA-38 Tomahawk for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This release follows a series of highly successful general aviation aircraft simulations from Just Flight’s in-house team and promises to be one of the very best GA experiences available on the platform!

The Piper PA-38 Tomahawk is a two-seater, single-engine aircraft that has been a staple in flight training and personal aviation since its introduction in the late 1970s. Known for its distinctive T-tail and tricycle landing gear, the Tomahawk was designed with the aim of providing a more challenging training environment with its deliberate spin characteristics, which set it apart from its contemporaries like the Cessna 152. This is a characteristic that Just Flight has attempted to replicate in their rendition with a highly-customised and authentic flight model.

Although production ended in the early 1980s, the PA-38 remains popular among flying schools and private owners for its handling characteristics and economical operation, making it an ideal candidate for both training and personal touring flights. Thousands of pilots throughout the years have learned to fly in a PA-38, so this is bound to be a popular aircraft for many real-world pilots looking to relieve some of their early days in aviation!

Just Flight’s PA-38 Tomahawk is a meticulously modeled virtual version of the iconic aircraft. This simulation for MSFS is based on extensive hands-on research with an actual Tomahawk, promising an unmatched level of detail and realism. The model includes fully functional custom systems and interactive checklists, including a comprehensive walk-around, top-notch modeling and texturing with 15 liveries, and much more.

One of the standout features of the Tomahawk is indeed the interactive walkaround mode, which allows pilots to conduct pre-flight checks by engaging with various components such as chocks, tie-downs, and control surfaces. The system will have you check for the condition of dozens of components, looking for troubles that may arise if the aircraft is improperly handled or simply due to the passage of time.

Thanks to this implementation and persistent state-saving, simmers can expect an experience very much akin to the A2A Comanche 250, and see their actions take real consequences in the state of the airplane.

MSFS simmers can also enjoy a highly-detailed, fully 3D cockpit with customizable lighting and an interactive EFB for in-depth control over aircraft settings, including support for Navigraph and SimBrief. The aircraft features a comprehensive avionics suite, including options for modern GPS units for a fully IFR-capable aircraft.

This package makes use of sound recordings from the actual aircraft for an utterly authentic auditory experience. Visual effects like realistic wear and tear, and environmental interactions like icing, are also meticulously simulated.

The Just Flight PA-38 Tomahawk promises to be one of the highlights of this year’s aircraft releases for Microsoft Flight Simulator. It’s available now from the Just Flight website, simMarket, Aerosoft, and the MSFS Marketplace for both PC and Xbox. Price: $41.99.
