iniBuilds has put out four new work-in-progress screenshots of its Airbus A380 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, shared this week on the studio’s social channels. There is no new information attached, just visuals, but after the full reveal earlier this month, the community will happily take another look at one of the most anticipated aircraft in the sim.
The batch splits evenly between outside and inside. Two of the shots are exterior: a tight pass over a Singapore Airlines A380 that shows off the wing root, the inboard engines and the tail, and a moody dusk shot of a Qantas airframe, registration VH-OQL. The other two come from the flight deck. One looks across the main instrument panel, and the other is a close-up of the glareshield and EFIS control panel, cruising at 38,000 feet. Every image still carries the “work in progress” stamp.
What the shots do is widen the list of liveries the community has now seen. The June teaser run gave us British Airways and Emirates, while this one brings Singapore Airlines and Qantas into view. None of that confirms the final livery list, and iniBuilds has only said that liveries for major A380 operators are expected at release. Still, the Qantas shot is a nice touch for the engine nerds, since the real VH-OQL flies on Rolls-Royce Trent 900s, and iniBuilds has said the A380 will model both the Trent 900 and the Engine Alliance GP7200 as separate variants with their own systems behaviour.
The one thing the new shots do not touch is the question on everyone’s mind: when the aircraft goes on sale, and for how much? The reveal earlier in June arrived with a trailer and a long systems write-up but no date and no price, and that has not changed. iniBuilds has said future updates will turn to the exterior model, liveries and optimisation, so this drip of previews looks like the studio keeping the A380 visible while it works through that final stretch.
For now, this is a chance to enjoy a few good-looking shots of an aircraft a lot of people have waited years for. We will be watching for the moment a date finally appears!
