When LatinVFR revealed its Airbus A380-800 with a surprise trailer, everyone knew it would be just a matter of days before the aircraft released. And indeed it was. This new take on the A380-800 is now available, arriving while iniBuilds, the developer most people were waiting on to bring a paid superjumbo to the sim, still has no release window for its own long-running project.
The aircraft is on the MSFS Marketplace for MSFS 2024 on both PC and Xbox, and for MSFS 2020 on PC, with the MSFS 2020 Xbox version still listed as pending. It is priced at $39.49, the top of LatinVFR’s range.
The feature list published by the developers is a bit of a surprise. LatinVFR’s aircraft have generally arrived as accessible, sim-native renditions rather than “study-level” simulators, so the A380 seems to be a step up from something like their A340-300. At least on paper.
According to LatinVFR, the aircraft ships with a full advanced FMS covering SIDs, STARs, approaches, holds, step climbs, secondary flight plans, and tools such as ETP, FIX INFO and OFFSET. The studio says the autopilot and autothrust implement every managed and selected mode, along with CAT3 dual autoland, RNAV and FLS approaches, and a managed step-climb system that handles the aircraft’s step fixes on its own.
And there’s more. LatinVFR says the A380 includes a live ECAM with around 80 wired warning, caution and memo messages, each with inline procedures and flight-phase inhibition, plus live hydraulics, a full electrical bus map, a multi-tank fuel system with automatic transfers, fuel jettison with visual effects, Brake-to-Vacate runway targeting when Navigraph data is present, synthesized brake temperatures, and an IRS alignment that runs a realistic eleven-minute countdown. The two engine options, the Rolls-Royce Trent 970 and the Engine Alliance GP7200, are presented as fully independent configurations, each with its own performance tables, thrust behaviour and FADEC logic.
On the visuals, the developer takes advantage of MSFS 2024’s native technology. LatinVFR describes a clearcoat paint system with real-time rain response, working windshield wipers, and a progressive weathering system that builds brake dust, exhaust soot and hydraulic staining across flights. There is also leading-edge erosion, icing and snow accumulation, and a desert-dust effect specific to the Emirates variants. The studio says real-time computational fluid dynamics model the full airframe, including all four nacelles, and that the aircraft is certified for MSFS 2024’s Career Mode.
The package comes with 20 airline liveries across the two engine variants and two cabin configurations, a standard interior and a premium Emirates interior. LatinVFR has also published a beginner tutorial for anyone approaching the aircraft for the first time.
Everything above comes from LatinVFR’s own description of the aircraft. Community reviews and hands-on impressions have not arrived yet, so how the FMS, the ECAM logic and the flight model perform in practice is the open question over the next few days.
