Yesterday’s developer livestream came with the most detailed public roadmap the MSFS team has shared in some time, covering world updates, sim updates, aircraft releases, and the return of the Aircraft and Avionics Updates through the end of 2026. Here is everything that was confirmed!
World updates and city updates
Five City Updates and three World Updates are planned for the year, maintaining roughly the one-release-per-month cadence the team has kept for the past few years. City Updates 13 (California) and 14 (Netherlands and Belgium, released alongside the Fokker F27 at FSWeekend) are already out. From here, the schedule looks like this:
May brings World Update 21: Australia, which we covered in detail in a separate article. June brings City Update 15, July brings World Update 22, August brings City Update 16, September brings World Update 23, and November closes the year with City Update 17. The regions covered by the remaining world and city updates have not been announced yet.
Sim Updates
Three sim updates are planned for MSFS 2024 this year, with one more for MSFS 2020. SU5 is imminent, targeting a release next week. SU6 follows in June-July, and SU7 lands in September-October. MSFS 2020 gets SU17 in July-August, which Jörg confirmed includes bug fixes that also affect 2024. The roadmap description notes that the sim updates will bring “quite a number of big surprises,” though no specifics were shared.
Aircraft releases
The calendar is also very busy with regards to aircraft releases and updates. The full upcoming lineup confirmed so far:
May: Local Legend 24, the CAC Boomerang by iniBuilds, releasing alongside World Update 21 Australia.

June: Expert Series 02, the Piper M600 by FSReborn, targeting FS Expo.
July: A new base aircraft, unspecified.
August: Local Legend 25, unspecified.
September: Local Legend 26, unspecified.
November: Expert Series 03, the Embraer Praetor 600 by Asobo and Working Title, now officially confirmed on the roadmap with its November placement.
One aircraft notably absent from the roadmap is the Caravelle Famous Flyer, which we first spotted on a roadmap back in 2024. Jörg addressed this directly, confirming the project was restarted essentially from scratch due to quality concerns. It remains in development but has no confirmed slot on the current roadmap.
Aircraft and Avionics Updates
The AAUs are back, a format many will remember from MSFS 2020, bringing significant upgrades to existing payware aircraft rather than just fixes. Three AAU batches are planned for 2026, each covering at least five aircraft upgraded to native MSFS 2024 standards.
AAU04 launches alongside SU5 and covers five aircraft: the ATR 42/72-600 (Expert Series 01), the Antonov AN-2 (Famous Flyer 5), the Fokker F.VII (Local Legend 2), the Savoia-Marchetti S.55/S.55X (Local Legend 4), the Latécoère 631 (Local Legend 9), plus the Avidyne IFD avionics package.

Jörg noted the focus is on payware first, since those are aircraft people paid for on top of the sim price, and the goal is to have all Aviator Edition aircraft brought to full 2024-native standards by the end of 2027. Once upgraded, the aircraft will also be made available for individual purchase on the Marketplace outside of the Aviator Edition bundle.
AAU05 follows in June, with the specific aircraft not yet announced though Jörg mentioned the batch will be US-based aircraft since they’re being showcased at FSExpo. AAU06 arrives in October, again with updated aircraft TBA.
The bigger picture
Jörg described 2026 as a continuation of the polish focus that defined most of 2025, an ongoing effort to work down the open bug list with every update. The roadmap reflects that philosophy, with a steady cadence of updates.
We will keep the roadmap coverage updated as more details on the unannounced world updates, city updates, and aircraft slots are revealed.
