If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on Parallel 42’s Flow Pro inside Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the wait just got shorter. Parallel 42 has confirmed that the utility has officially entered its testing phase at “Area 42,” the developer’s internal environment where upcoming releases are put through their paces.
For those unfamiliar, Flow replaces the default toolbar with a highly customizable radial menu, giving simmers quick access to common functions like the drone camera, weather controls, and system panels. In the Pro tier, it goes much further, allowing users to create and share custom widgets with scripting support, making it one of the most versatile utilities in the MSFS ecosystem.
Now, with MSFS 2024 out in the wild, Flow Pro is being adapted to the sim’s new backend systems. According to the team, this testing phase will see every feature stress-tested by their internal crew to ensure stability and functionality across the board.
Parallel 42 isn’t committing to a firm timeline. As they put it, the product will be released “once we are confident the product is ready.” That could mean a short wait or a longer one, depending on what surfaces during testing. But it’s clear that it won’t be much longer before Pro users can integrate Flow into their MSFS 2024 cockpit.
For now, Essentials and Pro remain the only Flow tiers making the jump to 2024. The free version stays exclusive to MSFS 2020, so anyone who wants the wheel in the new sim will need one of the paid upgrades. Existing customers will have an upgrade path, with a small additional fee to unlock the 2024-native builds.
It’s worth noting that Flow has built up a dedicated community since its launch, thanks in part to user-created widgets and scripts that extend its functionality.
