Orbx has launched its latest addition to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024—Idaho Fire Lookouts, a detailed scenery pack that brings 11 historically significant fire lookout towers to life. With this release, Orbx continues to expand its offerings in Idaho, providing sim pilots in MSFS 2024 with new challenges and scenic exploration opportunities.
Fire lookouts have played a crucial role in wildfire detection for decades, perched atop Idaho’s rugged peaks with expansive views of the surrounding wilderness. Milo Taylor, the indie developer behind this scenery pack, has meticulously recreated these remote outposts, allowing pilots to test their skills in STOL aircraft or helicopters.
Each location features a combination of challenging terrain, small airstrips, and dedicated helipads, offering a variety of approaches. The lookouts themselves are modeled with realistic detail, complete with animated elements such as wildlife, off-road vehicles, and even occasional drone pilots capturing the scenic vistas.
This scenery was already available for MSFS 2020 and is now also compatible with MSFS 2024.
