Following a few teasers and previews over the past few months, BlackBox Simulations has launched this week the BN-2T Turbine Islander for Microsoft Flight Simulator, with a confirmed release for MSFS 2024 coming soon. This new variant of the Britten-Norman Islander introduces turboprop engines to the model that BlackBox Simulations launched back in 2021 and offers enhanced performance for both civilian and military aviation enthusiasts.
The BN-2T Turbine Islander is available with four model variants:
- Islander BN2T Civilian Variant
- Islander BN2T Military Variant
- Islander BN2T AEW (Airborne Early Warning) Variant
- Islander BN2T-4S Defender 4000
According to BlackBox Simulations, the aircraft comes equipped with advanced avionics, including the Garmin GI-275 ADI and HSI, and the GMC 500 Autopilot system. Additionally, it features configurable camera pods, external stores, and a wide range of liveries, with over 24 options included, as well as a plain white variant for custom repaints.
BlackBox Simulations promises that the BN-2T Turbine Islander offers accurate turboprop flight dynamics, closely replicating the performance of the Rolls Royce Allison Model 250 engines. The aircraft’s avionics suite also includes a Collins Pro Line II Comm/Nav radio system and fully functional weather radar systems from both Collins and Bendix.
Navigation is supported by the PMS50 GTN750 GPS system and Navigraph Charts integration, both requiring separate purchases.
As for the exterior of the BN-2T Turbine Islander, it’s been modeled using detailed blueprints, according to BlackBox Simulations, and includes a full set of underwing stores, camera turrets, engine covers, tie-downs, and ground equipment like chocks and “remove before flight” tags.
The BN-2T Turbine Islander is now available for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, priced at €34.99, with a release for MSFS 2024 expected soon after the release of the new platform next month.
