UK2000 releases EGPD Aberdeen Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator
This week, UK2000 announced the release of their latest custom airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Following the launches of EGNC and EGPK, the developer has continued its focus on British airports, venturing further north into Scotland with Aberdeen Airport (EGPD).
EGPD is one of Scotland’s key transportation hubs, but its history traces back to its establishment on May 30, 1934. Initially serving as a grass airstrip, it became a pivotal RAF base during World War II, playing an instrumental role in maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare. Through the decades, EGPD has evolved to accommodate the surge in air travel, undergoing significant expansions and modernizations to serve as a vital link for the northeast of Scotland.
Today, Aberdeen is celebrated as the “Oil Capital of Europe,” with the airport serving as a crucial node for the offshore oil and gas industry. Its main runway, 16/34, stretches 1,953 meters, while specific runways cater to helicopter operations, essential for ferrying personnel to North Sea installations.
UK2000’s rendition of Aberdeen Airport is crafted with accuracy in mind, using HD photographic images and PBR materials to mirror the real-world airport. The scenery includes full-detail buildings, realistic ground markings, high-resolution ground images, and realistic night effects.
The developer also added airport vehicles, signage, fencing, vegetation, and optional static aircraft that enhance the simulation experience without compromising performance or AI traffic compatibility.
UK2000’s Aberdeen Airport is out now for Microsoft Flight Simulator, priced at just under £15.00.
