Two Azorean airports in a day: MMSimulations releases LPHR Horta Airport

The Azores are getting some much-deserved love today in Microsoft Flight Simulator with the release of two brand-new custom airports. Alongside with iniBuilds’ LPPD Ponta Delgada, we’re also taking note of MMSimulations’ LPHR Horta Airport.

Horta Airport is located on the picturesque Faial Island in the Azores archipelago, serving as a gateway to a rich history and a strategic location that has served the Azores Central Group islands for decades.

Horta Airport has seen significant developments over the years. It underwent a major remodeling in December 2001, bolstering its capacity to serve the Central Group islands, including Terceira, Graciosa, São Jorge, Pico, and Faial. Furthermore, it expanded its wings to support domestic flights to Lisbon. A notable milestone was on 5 July 1985 when TAP Air Portugal launched direct flights between Horta and Lisbon, with the first aircraft being a Boeing 737 named Ponta Delgada.

Key Features:

  • Accurately modeled terminal and interior
  • Custom night lighting
  • Custom parking positions matching with real life
  • Custom surroundings
  • Custom people and animated objects
  • PBR Materials
  • Real World based terraforming profile
  • Updated CGL Data
  • Ambient animated objects

Horta Airport plays a pivotal role in the economy of the Azores region. It serves as a crucial link to smaller aerodromes in the outlying islands. With plans to expand the runways by 240m on each side and the recent approval of nighttime air flight services, the airport is poised for even greater significance in the coming years!

MMSimulations’ LPHR Horta Airport looks like a seriously impressive rendition of this remote airport and it’s now available for MSFS, priced at around €15.00.
