BMWorld and AmSim release KPHX Phoenix Sky Harbor Intl Airport for MSFS

BMWorld and AmSim continue to join efforts to bring some of the largest airports in the United States to Microsoft Flight Simulator. After the release of KSEA and KMEM, the team of developers has now released KPHX Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport for MSFS.

Located just 3 miles east of downtown Phoenix, KPHX is Arizona’s largest and busiest airport, and among the largest commercial airports in the United States. KPHX was the eighth busiest airport in the United States and the eleventh busiest in the globe in 2021. American Airlines uses the airport as a hub, and Southwest Airlines uses it as a base. American Airlines (including American Eagle run by Skywest and Mesa) transports the most passengers from KPHX.

The airport is also home to the 161st Air Refueling Wing (161 ARW). The military enclave is known as the Goldwater Air National Guard Base. One of two flying units in the Arizona ANG, the 161 ARW currently flies the KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft. In addition to its domestic role as a National Guard unit, answering to the Governor of Arizona, the 161 ARW also performs both a stateside and overseas role as a USAF organization, supporting air refueling and air mobility missions worldwide.

The release of Phoenix airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator brings this key aviation hub to life in the virtual skies. It’s a product that boasts a range of features that make the airport feel immersive and realistic. These features include an animated Sky Train, animated Jetways, custom ground markings, high-resolution custom ground textures, dirt, and surrounding buildings.

This rendition of KPHX is also fully compatible with FSLTL, allowing pilots to experience the airport in a bustling and dynamic environment.

Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport is a must-have for airliners pilots flying in the United States. BMWorld and AmSim appear to have made an excellent job with this scenery, but they will soon (well, eventually…) have competition from Flightbeam Studios, whose rendition of KPHX for Microsoft Flight Simulator has been in development for a while.

KPHX Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport from BMWorld and AmSim is now available through Orbx, priced at around $23.00.
