Boeing 737-MAX by Bredok3d now available in the MSFS Marketplace

Bredok3d’s Boeing 737-MAX for Flight Simulator was received with poor reviews when it launched a few weeks ago. People praised its external model, but the cockpit and systems left a lot to be desired for a payware aircraft. However, it seemed to be a pleasant experience for many fans of the 737, for the lack of a better alternative, and the developer has been issuing updates that seem to be improving the product.

After the initial release through SimMarket, Bredok3d’s Boeing 737-MAX was added this week to the built-in Marketplace in Flight Simulator, giving it at least some assurance that it is indeed a legitimate product, albeit not yet a very good one. The truth is that there was a lot of bashing early on, with many considering it somewhat of a suspicious product for the use of elements from Asobo’s default 787 and 747. There’s even an extensive thread on the official Flight Simulator forums, where people have been raising their doubts about this release. But Bredok3d is indeed a Microsoft Partner, and as such it has been authorized to use parts contained in the original simulator.

In any case, if you’re still interested, what you will find here is a decently looking 737-MAX, with 11 liveries included, such as Lufthansa, Delta, American Airlines, KLM, British Airways, and more. The developer claims that the “main” systems are functional (FMC/CDU), the HUD opens and retracts, and there’s full cockpit lighting. Mind you though, the cockpit really doesn’t look that good. In the end, make sure to see the many videos already available on YouTube about this aircraft, and make your own judgment based on what you see.

So, let’s keep a positive spirit about this, and see it for what really is: a reasonably visually accurate representation of the 737-MAX for MSFS, mostly functional, that is being updated by the developer. There’s some potential here, right? But are you willing to pay the $20 it costs for just a “decent” (at best), airplane for Flight Simulator? Some less demanding simmers will surely be, and the screenshot potential is good and unique here. But hardcore simmers, you should probably stay away for now.

In any case, until PMDG finally decides to bring their 737 to MSFS, this will probably be the closest thing you can get.
