SimPixel has released a new rendition of Naples International Airport (LIRN) for Microsoft Flight Simulator, compatible with both the 2020 and 2024 versions of the platform.
Located close to the city center and surrounded by Mount Vesuvius and the Tyrrhenian Sea, Naples is among Italy’s most scenic and geographically distinctive airports. SimPixel’s version aims to reproduce this environment with detailed modeling and performance-optimized visuals.
The developer lists the following main features:
- High-resolution PBR textures across all airport surfaces, with realistic reflections and weathering.
- Accurately modeled terminals and hangars, built to match the real airport layout.
- Dynamic night lighting, reproducing authentic runway, taxiway, and apron illumination.
- Custom ground layout, including reworked markings, taxiway signs, and surface textures.
- Static aircraft and ground equipment, adding environmental detail across the apron areas.
- Optimized performance, intended to provide stable frame rates on a range of systems.
- Regional atmosphere, with lighting and colors reflecting the character of southern Italy.
SimPixel’s release enters a space already occupied by RDPresets’ version of LIRN, which has been available for some time and is generally regarded as a very solid representation of the airport. With this new rendition of the airport, simmers now have another choice for flying in and out of Naples, one of southern Italy’s busiest and most recognizable hubs.
SimPixel’s Naples International Airport is available now from the iniBuilds Store, priced at £16.99 GBP(approximately €19.35 EUR / $22.34 USD).
