SayIntentions.AI announces free Skynet Multiplayer Traffic for Microsoft Flight Simulator

See and hear other live pilots while you fly in MSFS!
by Vasco Ferreira

SayIntentions.AI has unveiled a major development in its ongoing expansion of AI-driven air traffic solutions for flight simulation. In their most recent announcement, the team introduced Skynet Multiplayer Traffic, a new system that enables pilots to see and hear other live users within the SayIntentions network.

The system functions similarly to VATSIM’s multiplayer setup, offering full model matching without relying on Microsoft Flight Simulator’s built-in multiplayer system. Crucially, SayIntentions.AI confirmed that Skynet Multiplayer Traffic will be free for the entire flight simulation community once fully launched.

A new approach to live traffic

SayIntentions.AI has been working on an advanced traffic injection and sequencing system, with a major announcement planned for FSWeekend in mid-March. While this project remains in development, the team took a slight detour to create Skynet Multiplayer Traffic, leveraging a separate development team led.

The Skynet Multiplayer Traffic system allows users to see other pilots in real time, independent of MSFS’s built-in multiplayer. This solution minimizes performance impact while ensuring accurate model matching, making it a practical alternative to existing multiplayer implementations. The system is also integrated with SayIntentions’ SkyOps system, enabling coordinated group missions such as aerial firefighting.

Key features and upcoming improvements

  • Live moving aircraft: Pilots will be able to see and hear other SayIntentions network users in real time.
  • Independent multiplayer system: The system does not rely on MSFS 2020/2024’s default multiplayer, reducing CPU and FPS impact.
  • SkyOps integration: Users can engage in cooperative activities such as group missions.
  • Automatic anomaly filtering: Aircraft exhibiting unrealistic behavior (e.g., floating or pausing midair) will be automatically removed to maintain immersion.
  • Reduced audio delay: The existing 4-6 second audio delay will soon be eliminated for real-time communication.

Future updates will expand support to X-Plane and Prepar3D, introduce full multiplayer sequencing for ATC, and refine the handling of injected traffic.

Release schedule

  • Now available: SayIntentions Partners can access the feature immediately by enabling it in the Preview tab in the SayIntentions App
  • Beta release: Experimental branch access expected on or before March 15.
  • Full public release: Scheduled for April 15, 2025, making Skynet Multiplayer Traffic freely available to the entire flight simulation community.

This marks another significant milestone for SayIntentions.AI, as the team continues to expand its appeal by offering features with no recurring costs, including the recently announced OpenSky. Now, they’re making high-quality multiplayer traffic more widely accessible.
