iniBuilds Malta (LMML) is out now, the first native MSFS 2024 payware for the island

The Mediterranean scenery arrives roughly three weeks after the reveal.

It’s Friday, so there’s a new airport release from iniBuilds. The studio rarely blinks and stays prolific with its scenery renditions, and this one comes out roughly three weeks after the unveiling. It’s Malta International, a small, sunlit Mediterranean island airport from a team whose 2026 has otherwise been dominated by large hubs.

Until now, the payware choice for LMML was JustSim’s older MSFS 2020 scenery, listed as compatible with the 2024 sim rather than native to it. Everything else was community freeware. So iniBuilds Malta is the first ground-up 2024 take on the island’s only commercial airport, and the first to arrive after the terminal’s most recent round of real-world changes.

It would be easy to file Malta under “holiday airport” and leave it there, but the numbers tell a different story. The airport closed 2025 above ten million passengers for the first time in its operating history, served by more than 100 routes across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. That is a good amount of traffic going through a single terminal.

It also sits on ground with some history. LMML occupies the former RAF Luqa airfield, and the Armed Forces of Malta still operate from the field alongside the commercial apron, which gives the ramp a mix you do not get at a pure leisure destination. iniBuilds points to that combination of airline traffic, military heritage and coastal approaches as part of what makes the airport worth recreating. For MSFS simmers, the main draw is the route network, since Malta sits within easy narrowbody reach of most of Europe, which puts it in the same bracket as the studio’s other Mediterranean work, including Zakynthos from back in May.

On the development side, iniBuilds says the scenery was built specifically for MSFS 2024 using its latest modelling, texturing and optimisation workflows. The package covers an accurately recreated terminal environment, detailed airside infrastructure, bespoke ground textures, custom signage and airport clutter. As we noted when the project was announced, a member of the team travelled to Malta earlier this year to photograph the airport in person. That trip captured interiors, apron equipment, lighting and surface materials that publicly available imagery tends to miss. The developer says the goal was to capture the character of arriving in Malta, from the limestone architecture to the surrounding coastline, rather than just the runway and stands.

A routes sale to go with it

The release comes with a Malta Routes Sale on the iniBuilds store, offering up to 20% off a selection of airports that pair well with LMML, including Doha Hamad, Larnaca and London Gatwick. It is a sensible bit of bundling, since a Malta-based route network naturally runs through exactly those kinds of hubs and holiday destinations.

Worth noting too, Malta is only one part of a wider iniBuilds scenery update that also confirmed a substantial Dubai V2 rework and formally announced Paris Charles de Gaulle. We will have coverage on both of those shortly. For now, Malta is the one you can actually fly into today.
