Greece has been getting some well-deserved attention in the MSFS 2024 scenery scene lately. Earlier this month, we saw the release of Lisium Design’s Heraklion Airport (LGIR) for Crete, which serves over nine million passengers a year and offers one of the more memorable approaches in the Mediterranean. Now iniBuilds has turned its attention further north through the Ionian, with Zakynthos International Airport “Dionysios Solomos” announced as its next coming-soon release.
Zakynthos, or Zante as it’s commonly known across the travel industry, is one of Greece’s most visited islands during the summer months. The airport handled just over 2.2 million passengers in 2024, with a 6.8% year-on-year increase in traffic. Roughly 81% of the airport’s annual traffic is concentrated in the summer peak, driven almost entirely by charter and scheduled holiday flights from across Europe.
The UK alone accounts for around 30% of monthly traffic at the height of the season, with Italy, Poland, and the Netherlands also significant markets. It’s the kind of airport that buzzes from June through September and then goes almost quiet for the rest of the year, which makes it a very particular and interesting challenge to recreate in a simulator.
On the scenery side, iniBuilds describes the project as a “handcrafted” recreation of the airport and its surrounding island environment, covering the terminal complex, apron layout, and the island atmosphere. The project is credited to Jakub Lukaszewski in association with iniBuilds, which follows the studio’s established model of bringing in external developers for specific destinations.
No pricing or release date has been confirmed yet beyond the “coming soon” tag. A trailer is already available, which you can watch below.
