Just Flight’s Fokker F70 and F100 Professional enter final testing

The developer has shared a detailed look at what's being refined before release, from vertical navigation logic to braking physics and custom airline cabins.

There are some aircraft in the sim world that carry weight beyond the cockpit, and for a lot of Dutch aviation fans, the Fokker 70 and 100 are exactly that. Both types were built in the Netherlands, flew proudly with KLM Cityhopper and dozens of other carriers across the world, and are now largely retired from the skies. Fond memories from yours truly as well: the F100 was the very first commercial aircraft I flew in, almost 20 years ago now.

It’s well known that Just Flight has been working on bringing both variants to MSFS for a while now, and the team has just published a substantial development update that makes it clear they are well and truly in the homestretch.

We have been following this project closely since the early days here. Our most recent coverage from March detailed a significant milestone: Just Flight had scrapped its first VNAV implementation and rebuilt the vertical navigation system from scratch, a decision the team admitted cost more time than expected but one they felt was necessary.

That March update also coincided with Just Flight bringing the aircraft to FS Weekend 2026 in Lelystad, where visitors could try advanced builds of both variants at the booth. For many attendees, that was a particularly meaningful moment, and Just Flight acknowledged as much, noting the special atmosphere of showing off Dutch-built aircraft in the Netherlands to enthusiasts with personal connections to the real thing. The team also used the trip to visit preserved public examples of the aircraft for additional reference material.

Since Lelystad, Just Flight says it has kept its head down. A tentative internal release window is set but not yet announced publicly. The most meaningful detail in this new update is that parts of the team have already shifted from active development to completing the Operations and EFB manuals, support FAQs, and a set of pre-release videos.

AFCAS Profile mode: the big systems milestone

The headline from a systems standpoint is the completion of a fully recoded AFCAS Profile logic. For those less familiar with the Fokker 100, the AFCAS (Automatic Flight Control and Augmentation System) is the aircraft’s autopilot and flight director architecture, and Profile mode is how it manages vertical navigation on a filed route. Just Flight says the aircraft can now fly in Profile mode from 35 feet after takeoff all the way down to approach minimums, correctly respecting altitude and speed constraints while keeping close to the computed vertical profile. If a descent path is too steep, or a discontinuity exists in the flight plan, the system generates alerts on the PFD and CDU.

That’s no small thing. As we noted back in August, the AFCAS and FMS were identified as the two most complex and interconnected parts of the aircraft, and the reason a release date couldn’t be committed to. Getting Profile mode working correctly from 35 feet to minimums, with the autothrottle and FMS in sync, was the problem the team has been grinding on for months. This update suggests that work is now done, at least to the point where a final beta build has gone out to testers.

That beta build is now in the hands of the testing team, who Just Flight says are flying the aircraft across a wide range of routes and “trying to break it in as many ways as possible.” The team admits some bug fixing and polishing remain before a release date can be announced.

Braking, cockpit art, and 25 unique cabins

Beyond systems, the update covers several additional areas. The braking system has received what Just Flight describes as a mini-overhaul: braking effectiveness for both manual and autobrake has been tuned against figures from the real aircraft’s documentation and calibrated against the EFB’s Performance Calculator, which was first described in the March update. The brake temperature model has also been updated to more accurately reflect heat generated during braking.

Cockpit artwork has been significantly reworked too. A full ambient occlusion re-bake has been applied, with colour corrections across the entire cockpit. The FMP knobs now show a slightly yellowed tint from UV exposure over time, and dirt and dust have been added to panels based on newly sourced reference photography. The philosophy is consistent with what Just Flight has done across its other Professional series aircraft: clean, fresh-from-the-factory aircraft are just not their thing, and they prefer to depict a workhorse that has seen years on the line.

On the cabin side, more than 25 unique cabin textures have been created, each corresponding to a specific livery available at launch. These range from classic to modern configurations and work alongside the already-announced advanced galley simulation, fully interactable doors, Auto Cabin Crew logic, and a Digital Music Player with announcements and music modes.

Just Flight hasn’t confirmed a launch date yet, but with documentation work already underway and the final beta build in testing, it is reasonable to expect an announcement in the not-too-distant future. We’ll be covering the release here as soon as it happens!
