Orbx is back to its Australian roots with the release of YPPH Perth International Airport, which was announced just a few of weeks ago. This new scenery captures Western Australia’s primary aviation gateway and is available for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024.
Perth International serves as a critical link between the Australian east coast and destinations across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. It handles over 17 million passengers annually. Orbx states that this rendition reflects the airport layout as of June 2025.
The developer has focused on capturing the specific operational character of YPPH. While the airport hosts heavy international traffic from carriers like Emirates and Singapore Airlines, it also functions as a massive hub for the mining industry. Orbx has fully realized the aprons dedicated to Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) operations. This sector serves the fleets of Fokker 100s, E190s, and A320s used by operators such as Network Aviation and Cobham to connect remote towns throughout the state.
Visually, the scenery features high-resolution aerial imagery to ensure accurate terrain representation. The team has modeled key structures such as the T1 International Terminal and the distinctive Skybridge. Simmers can also explore modeled interiors in specific areas, including lounges and check-in halls.
To enhance the ground environment, the developer applied PBR materials and created custom ground polygons. These textures display realistic wear and weathering markings. The scenery includes dynamic lighting for night operations and static aircraft placed throughout the airfield to simulate density.
