iFly Schedules has steadily grown from a useful schedule generator into a more versatile operational companion for Microsoft Flight Simulator simmers. With the latest updates for premium members, the platform now includes two notable additions: a desktop-based inflight entertainment interface and a live flight tracker.

Both tools aim to make simulator sessions more interactive, whether you are flying in a virtual airline environment, logging hours on VATSIM, or simply looking for additional flight information in a convenient format.

iFly In-flight Entertainment

The new iFly IFE (In-Flight Entertainment) is designed for desktop use and combines flight tracking with supplementary tools. At the core is a moving map displaying the planned route and current position, surrounded by configurable widgets that can be arranged anywhere on the screen.

These widgets include:

  • Flight progress: elapsed time, percentage complete, and ETA (switchable between UTC and local time).
  • Distance covered and remaining.
  • Live aircraft data: altitude, speed, heading, and vertical speed.

Beyond tracking, iFly IFE provides access to entertainment and utility functions:

  • Streaming service links that open in a separate tab.
  • YouTube integration allowing a video link to be played directly within the interface.
  • Mini-games, such as Pac-Man, playable alongside the flight display.

It’s a unique mix, and that’s what makes it interesting. You get your flight stats in one place, and if you feel like breaking up a long cruise with a bit of background music, some video-watching, or a quick game, you can!

iFly Tracker

The second addition, the iFly Tracker, focuses on centralising flight information and offering quick access to operational tools. Upon launch, it loads the latest scheduled flight and displays:

  • Flight details: airline, flight number, aircraft type, registration, departure and arrival airports, planned duration.
  • Live statistics: total distance, remaining distance, ETA, elapsed flight time, and completion percentage.
  • METARs for both departure and arrival airports, updated in real time.

Integrated SimBrief support enables the automatic generation of a full operational flight plan (OFP) using the scheduled flight’s details, including route, procedures, fuel, weights, and charts. Users can also link directly to the same flight on FlightRadar24 for comparison with live traffic.

Additional tracker functions include:

  • schedule management tab allowing drag-and-drop reordering of flights—currently exclusive to the tracker.
  • Tabs for viewing SimBrief OFPs, browsing maps, and adjusting settings.
  • A live connection status indicator compatible with both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024.

With these additions, iFly Schedules gives Premium users extra tools that make the $4/month or $40/year subscription easier to justify, combining convenience, centralised flight management, and optional entertainment that fits into both personal logbook flying and virtual airline operations.

More information is available on the iFly Schedules website and in the community Discord server.
