SoFly releases Hannover Airport for MSFS

Northern Germany just got a little more lively in Microsoft Flight Simulator. SoFly has released Hannover Airport (EDDV) for both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024, and the developer promises that this one’s not just about good looks—it’s about movement, sound, and interaction. Even the escalators work!
Hannover might not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of German airports, overshadowed by the likes of Frankfurt and Munich, but it’s an important hub in the country’s northern region, connecting Lower Saxony to key European destinations like Palma de Mallorca, Vienna, and Amsterdam. The airport also serves airlines like Lufthansa, KLM, Austrian, and SunExpress, which means plenty of opportunity to replicate those short to mid-haul European routes in the sim.
Where SoFly is trying to stand out with this release is in the way the airport feels lived-in. Interactive Scenery Technology, as they call it, is at the heart of the product. Doors open automatically as you get closer (your camera position triggers them), and inside the terminal, you’ll find moving elevators, escalators, and animated passengers and staff going about their day.
If you’re someone who likes exploring terminals as much as flying into them, Hannover might scratch that itch. There’s a whole layered interior, populated with check-in counters, lounges, security areas, and even restrooms, all complemented by a custom audio layer.
On the apron and around the airport grounds, SoFly has introduced moving ground transport, including the underground metro arriving at the terminal station and airport buses navigating on a set timetable, complete with door animations when they stop.
Winter ops also get attention, with snow piling up naturally and snow ploughs dispatched when conditions demand it.
In terms of features, the package comes with a GSX profile for custom ground handling and supports Aerosoft’s VDGS system (although you’ll need Aerosoft One installed for this to work).
SoFly says that the scenery is performance-optimised despite the detailed interiors and animations. Of course, as with any scenery, mileage may vary depending on your setup.
The package is currently available on the SoFly store for €21.99 (excluding tax), and it’s also being distributed through other familiar vendors like Contrail, Aerosoft, SIMMARKET, and iniBuilds.
