FS Addon Compare’s new airport map makes hunting for MSFS scenery much easier

Keeping track of all the payware add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator is no easy task. Aircraft releases are rarer, and we think we cover nearly all of them, but with new airport releases happening daily, updates coming out regularly, and discounts popping up left and right, it can get overwhelming. Sometimes you just want a simple answer to a simple question: where can I buy this airport, and how much does it cost?

We talked about FS Addon Compare before, the quietly brilliant website from developer Chris Rimmer that’s been answering exactly that question for a while now. It’s truly an indispensable tool to reach out to when looking to buy an add-on. And now, Chris has made it even easier to find what you’re looking for with a brand-new interactive airport map.

A map that shows you where the add-ons are

The new feature is exactly what it sounds like: a map with pins marking airports that have payware add-ons available. Click on a pin, and you’ll get a neat little list of products for that location, with the respective links where you can get more detailed information on each scenery.

This isn’t exactly a new idea, exactly. Stores like Orbx, Simmarket, and Contrail have been doing it for their own catalogs for a while. The difference here is reach and practicality. FS Addon Compare isn’t tied to a single vendor—it pulls in products from multiple stores and shows you where they’re available, along with price comparisons.

Instead of scrolling through lists or trying to remember ICAO codes, you can now visually browse the globe and see what’s out there. Looking for scenery in your home country? Curious if a small regional airport has a payware version? The map answers those questions instantly.

Indeed, this is a great discovery tool. Sometimes, you don’t know what you’re looking for until you stumble upon it. The map encourages that exploration, turning what used to be a tedious search into something more visual and intuitive.
