Seafront Simulations, whose work in enhancing maritime environments within Microsoft Flight Simulator we featured several times over the past few years, has revealed a set of new scenery projects alongside updates for MSFS 2024. These announcements outline the developer’s plans to bring detailed maritime experiences to Microsoft’s new sim.
The first of the new projects is Vessels: Brazil, which marks Seafront Simulations’ first attempt at a country-wide scenery. This project aims to capture the waterways of Brazil with static and animated vessels populating ports and coastlines, including prominent locations such as Rio de Janeiro.
This new addition to Seafront Simulations’ product lineup will seek to highlight Brazil’s rich and varied maritime activity. Early previews provide a glimpse into the scale of the project, although further details on specific features are yet to come.
Another notable announcement is Vessels: The Greek Islands, which aims to bring the famous islands of Greece to life with detailed maritime traffic. Covering numerous isles, the project will recreate the region’s bustling ports and scenic waterways. According to Seafront Simulations, this scenery has been in development intermittently over several years. The developer shared a few preview images of the scenery, but the full scope of its features will also be revealed closer to the release.
The third project, Vessels: AU New South Wales, is another extensive undertaking, this time covering the coastline of New South Wales in Australia. Encompassing harbors, marinas, and inlets, this project will obviously attempt to provide MSFS simmers with a comprehensive depiction of the region’s maritime landscape. Seafront Simulations highlights the sheer size and diversity of the area in what will be one of the largest offerings from the developer to date.
Alongside these new announcements, Seafront Simulations is continuing to update its existing catalog to ensure compatibility with MSFS 2024. One such example is Vessels: The Virgin Islands, which is being updated with revised AI traffic systems and adjustments to terrain and water masks to align with the latest simulator updates. These updates will be offered free of charge.
The transition to MSFS2024 has brought challenges, including adapting legacy AI traffic systems and resolving issues caused by the removal of features such as the “wanderboats.” Despite these obstacles, the team has confirmed that updates for “Vessels: The Bahamas” and “Vessels: UK South West” are progressing, with plans to release them soon. Xbox users can expect compatibility updates to follow once testing is complete.
