BlueBird Simulations, the team behind the highly anticipated Boeing 757 and 767 add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator, has returned this week with a new update on their ongoing projects. The announcement offers brief insights into the development progress of both aircraft, with a special focus on the 757’s EFB and the 767’s external model.
Boeing 757 progress
The development of the Boeing 757 continues to advance, with the team showcasing a preview of the EFB that is being fitted into the cockpit. This device, while still a work in progress, promises full Simbrief integration and basic menus for aircraft control upon initial release. BlueBird Simulations has ambitious plans to expand the EFB’s capabilities post-release, aiming to create “one of the best EFBs on the market.”
Regarding the release date, the developers maintain their goal of a late 2024 launch but remain cautious. They plan to provide a more definitive timeline by mid to late October, acknowledging the possibility of a delay into 2025 if necessary to meet their quality standards. Judging by the complexity of the project and Bluebird’s desire to make an excellent first impression (remember, the 757 is still their first project for MSFS), we are most likely looking at a release date for the 757 in early 2025.
“We’re making sure not to rush this plane. It is shaping up VERY nicely,” BlueBird Simulations stated.
Boeing 767 development kicks off
For those eagerly awaiting news on the Boeing 767, BlueBird Simulations revealed that initial work on the flight model has begun. The 3D modeling phase is still ongoing, but the team anticipates sharing textured screenshots of the aircraft by early next year.
