DC Designs is back with another military jet fighter for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This time the developer explores Soviet-era aircraft and offers MSFS simmers the chance to fly the Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker, one of Russia’s most iconic fighter jets.

The Su-27 Flanker is known for its impressive flight characteristics and has been recreated in great detail by DC Designs for Microsoft Flight Simulator. It’s priced at $26.99 and is also available on the MSFS Marketplace.

Key features of the DC Designs Su-27 Flanker include:

  • Seven diverse paint schemes, including variants from Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan Air Forces.
  • An operational radar system capable of detecting both AI and multiplayer targets.
  • Authentic cockpit displays and a Head-Up Display based on the real aircraft’s systems.
  • Custom-coded, user-controlled ordnance via the simulator’s Payload Manager.
  • Realistic cockpit night lighting with adjustable brightness.
  • Custom-coded maneuvering flaps and slats, reacting to airspeed and angle of attack.
  • Fully controllable AoA and G-limiters, allowing for signature maneuvers like the ‘Cobra’ and ‘Tailslide’.
  • A comprehensive Wwise custom sound set recorded from an actual Su-27 Flanker.
  • Cockpit labels in Cyrillic with English tooltips for ease of use.
  • An interactive checklist and full operations manual to assist pilots.

As with many DC Designs creations, this aircraft prioritizes accessibility across the board. While it may not boast the most intricate visuals or system depth, it offers a straightforward and enjoyable way to experience an iconic fighter jet.

This release follows DC Designs’ launch of the F-4 Phantom and represents the culmination of their 2024 release schedule. The developer has announced that they will now focus on updating their existing product line, with no new aircraft releases planned until well into 2025. Except, of course, the A-10C Thunderbolt II that they are developing for the upcoming MSFS 2024… and who knows what else!
