Miltech Simulations has released a significant update to their UK Carrier Strike Group add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The original package was released in February 2023 and has since offered military aviation enthusiasts a realistic maritime environment to practice virtual naval operations.

The Version 2 update, which Miltech describes as giving the British carriers the “Supercarrier Treatment,” introduces substantial enhancements to the original release. Most notably, the 3D models of the HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales carriers have been completely redesigned and retextured, offering a markedly higher level of detail and utilizing high-resolution PBR texturing.

Another great new feature are the fully accessible aircraft hangars and animated elevators on both carriers. These new interactive elements can be controlled via the Miltech Universal Carrier Toolbar App, which is now compatible with the UK Carrier Strike Group. This app, previously featured in Miltech’s Supercarrier Pro, allows simmers to teleport aircraft, align carriers with wind, operate elevators, and synchronize movements in multiplayer sessions.

The update also expands the operational scope of the add-on, increasing the number of both static and moving carrier locations to 12 each, spread across various global theaters. All locations are now identifiable by unique ICAO codes.

Attention to detail extends to the support ships as well, with remastered models and textures for all escort vessels. The deck crew models have been overhauled, featuring both animated and static characters, while new accurately textured deck vehicles reflect those used by the RAF aboard the Queen Elizabeth and Prince of Wales carriers.

Navigation aids have also seen improvements, with TACAN now set to 78X on static carrier locations, mirroring real-world configurations. ILS also has been correctly aligned for all static carriers, operating on frequency 108.95.

Miltech Simulations is offering this substantial update free of charge to existing owners of the UK Carrier Strike Group. New customers can purchase the enhanced package for just $9.50 USD through Miltech’s website and Orbx, with availability on the MSFS Marketplace expected soon.
