HPG getting ready to announce their next helicopter for MSFS: the Airbus H160

For those of you with a keen eye, you might have caught something unusual this week. I know I did when a YouTube notification buzzed my phone, heralding a new video about Hype Performance Group (HPG). Intrigued, I tapped on it, only to find an empty video space – a clear case of accidental publishing. But the cat was already out of the bag: HPG is working on a new helicopter, and it’s another member of the Airbus family, the cutting-edge H160.

Though the accidental leak flew mostly under the radar, HPG decided to own the moment rather than sweep it under the rug. They released additional photos and confirmed that an official announcement is just around the corner. “We were about ready to go anyway,” they casually mentioned, embracing the unplanned publicity.

The community’s response has been overwhelmingly positive. “Y am very, very happy. Thank’s HPG,” said one user, while another added, “Looks phenomenal! Looking forward to this!” The sentiment was echoed by an enthusiast who manages a Facebook group dedicated to the Airbus H160 and claims to have a 6,000-strong membership eagerly awaiting the release.

While the exact release date remains a mystery, HPG assured the community that it would be “this month.” This is a refreshing change from other developers who endlessly tease upcoming projects, only to see the community’s interest wane due to the prolonged wait.

As for the Airbus H160, it’s a medium utility helicopter that’s been making waves in the aviation industry for its innovative design and advanced technology. It’s a twin-engine chopper that’s designed to serve a variety of roles, from commercial air transport and emergency medical services to offshore operations and private and business aviation.

The H160 features a striking futuristic design, which includes a sleek fuselage and a distinctive Blue Edge five-blade main rotor that not only reduces noise but also improves performance. Inside, the cockpit of the H160 is a marvel of modern avionics, featuring a fully digital glass cockpit equipped with the Helionix avionics suite.

Hype Performance Group did a stellar job with the H145 package so the bar is high for this new project. We’ll have to wait for further details about this, not only in terms of features but also in the planned release strategy. The H145 was available early on as early-access and iterated from there for many months. Will HPG adopt the same strategy for the H160? We’ll soon find out!
