Orbx releases YHOT Mount Hotham Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator

Orbx’s latest Australian airport has officially landed in Microsoft Flight Simulator. No, it’s not YMML just yet, but it’s definitely another interesting one: YHOT Mount Hotham Airport, Australia’s highest airport!

Located in the heart of the Australian Alps near the village of Mount Hotham, Victoria, Australia, YHOT Mount Hotham Airport stands as Australia’s highest airport, perched approximately 1,298 meters (or 4,260 feet) above sea level. The airport serves as the primary gateway to the Mount Hotham ski resort, a bustling hub for winter sports enthusiasts. Its unique location, challenging weather conditions, and proximity to Melbourne and Canberra make it a delightful challenge for those seeking an elevated flying experience.

Orbx’s YHOT Mount Hotham Airport is a bit of a journey back in time. Indie developer Milo Taylor has chosen to depict an older version of the airport, taking us back to the days when domestic and regional services like Qantas and REX graced Mount Hotham. This blast from the past adds a nostalgic touch to your flights, offering a vivid window into the airport’s vibrant early history.

This latest addition from Orbx to Microsoft Flight Simulator comes packed with a host of features designed with realism and immersion in mind. Expect detailed ground and apron texturing, a highly detailed terminal interior, custom animations including a working clock and wind turbine, and over 140+ custom assets.

Moreover, the airport is sprinkled with airport-specific static aircraft and is surrounded by extensive custom vegetation, encapsulating the beauty of the Victorian Alps in stunning detail.

YHOT Mount Hotham Airport is out now through Orbx Direct, priced at $24.95 AUD.
