PMDG pushes new update for the 737-700 for MSFS

PMDG has pushed a new patch for the 737-700 for Microsoft Flight Simulator, bringing the product to version 3.00.0025.

This new update focuses on cleaning up the package from several remainder issues, keeping up with PMDG’s promise of continued support for the product. This happens while the team is also working on finishing up the initial releases of the 737-600 and -800 models, which are starting to look like they might be released around the same time, since the -600 is a bit delayed while the -800 is more or less on schedule.

Probably the most notable change introduced with this patch is an improved ground steering model that, according to PMDG’s Robert Randazzo, “more tightly integrates the 737 into MSFS“. Do note the following details in order to make the necessary adjustments in your configuration:

It is important to note that this will require anyone with a tiller input assigned to update your control settings – so please be advised! Previously we were using the PROP1 axis in MSFS controls to provide tiller inputs, but effective with this build the 737 will accept tiller steering inputs only from the NOSE WHEEL STEERING AXIS input in the MSFS control menus.

This should now work better on the move.

Related to this change, proper pedal steering for users who have both a tiller and rudder axis assigned has been implemented again, further enhancing ground steering in the PMDG 737. See below the full release notes to see all that is new:

737-600 and Flight Tablet news

PMDG also published a development update on the next aircraft of the 737 family to launch for MSFS. The -600 variant was estimated to release in late June, but PMDG decided to use that airframe as a testbed for the new Lateral Flight Path model. There’s no word yet on an updated release schedule for the 737-600, but with the estimated launch of the -800 fast approaching (early august), we may get them both at about the same time.

It shouldn’t take long now for the PMDG 737-600 to take to the skies in MSFS.

As for the PMDG Flight Tablet, the much-awaited EFB implementation for the 737, it continues under active development and shouldn’t take long for the first previews to be shown. PMDG is currently working on SimBrief integration and counting with the collaboration of Navigraph for chart implementation.

It’s looking like August will be a busy month for PMDG if all goes well over the coming weeks. Simmers have been widely anticipating the launch of new variants of the 737, especially the super-popular -800, and it shouldn’t take long now for that to finally happen, featuring the new Lateral Flight Path model and hopefully the new EFB as well!
