MSFS World Update 9 to focus on Italy and Malta, coming in May

Today marks the release of a new World Update for Microsoft Flight Simulator, dedicated to the Iberian Peninsula (Portugal, Spain, Gibraltar, and Andorra). While simmers can now enjoy a newly improved region in MSFS, they can also plan for what’s coming next, and it’s not going to be too far away: Italy and Malta, both also in Southern Europe, will be the target of the next World Update, scheduled to come out in May.

World Update 9 was revealed during the latest Twitch stream by the Flight Simulator team. Jorg Neumann says this will be the biggest World Update yet, with 18 photogrammetry areas (12 cities and 6 suburbs) covering over 8.000 square kilometers, brand new aerial imagery, some airports, and the usual assortment of landmarks (the Vatican, San Siro Stadium, or Vittoriano, to name a few).

This update will count again with the collaboration of Gaya for the creation of the landmarks, but also with governmental help from most of the Italian states to get improved elevation data.

New details about the Italy and Malta World Update will surely be coming in the next few weeks (we’re also expecting the announcement of a new Local Legend airplane to go along with this region), so stay tuned for further news. In the meantime, enjoy these first teaser images above and make sure to start enjoying the Mediterranean way of life with the Iberia World Update, out now for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
