TechnoBrain’s Tokyo Haneda for MSFS nears release after years in development

The Japanese studio's RJTT is coming to both MSFS 2020 and 2024, and it looks set to be the first dedicated payware version of the airport for the platform.

Some airport projects arrive out of nowhere. This one has been on the radar for a while. TechnoBrain first announced its Tokyo Haneda scenery back in 2023, and after a slow trickle of preview images, the developer has now moved the product to a “coming soon” listing on both the in-sim Marketplace and simMarket. It’s a strong signal that the release is finally near.

Tokyo Haneda, ICAO code RJTT, is the busier of the two airports serving the Greater Tokyo Area, and it ranks among the busiest in the world, third by 2025 passenger numbers. Despite that stature, it has never had a dedicated commercial scenery built for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Pilots flying into RJTT have so far relied on the handcrafted airport that ships with the sim, a popular freeware revision on flightsim.to, and a few smaller enhancements. If TechnoBrain’s version releases as listed, it would be the first full payware Haneda for the platform.

TechnoBrain is no stranger to the airport, either. The studio previously sold a Haneda scenery for Prepar3D, so this is a return to familiar ground rather than a first attempt at the location.

On the feature side, the developer says the scenery uses a custom ground layout built from processed orthophoto data supplied through Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, drawn from its PLATEAU open-data project. TechnoBrain also lists custom jetways, a custom approach lighting system, custom taxiway signs and ground markings, PBR materials, pseudo shadows, and dynamic lighting. The developer says the night lighting follows the airport’s official documentation, with runway lighting recreated to match.

One detail stands out for its honesty. TechnoBrain notes that frame rates may be lower around Tokyo Bay, and it advises buyers to run a test flight at the default Haneda first and confirm the simulator stays stable before installing the product. That kind of upfront performance note is not something you see on every store page, and it gives a fair sense of the demands a detailed recreation of central Tokyo can place on a system.

The scenery is listed for both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024, and it will sell through the in-sim Marketplace and simMarket. As of now, neither TechnoBrain nor either storefront has published a price or a firm release date.

For simmers who fly Japan’s busy domestic network, or route long-haul into Tokyo, Haneda is a frequent destination, which is exactly why a proper payware version has been a long-standing community request. We’ll let you know once the airport goes live, price included. You can view the current listing on TechnoBrain’s website.
