Hold your horses, the PMDG 777 for MSFS is still at least a few weeks away

PMDG will give at least two weeks' advance notice of the release date.

As the development of PMDG’s 777-300ER for Microsoft Flight Simulator nears completion, the MSFS community is eagerly awaiting what is set to be one of the most significant releases this year. This project has sparked the imaginations of airline simmers eager to get their hands on the most high-fidelity wide-body airliner yet for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Speculation grows daily about an imminent release, but it’s wise to temper expectations for a release in the coming days. Instead, prepare for a few more weeks of waiting as PMDG continues to put the final touches on the aircraft.

In fact, Robert Randazzo, the CEO of PMDG, provided a new update today that sheds light on the current status of the project and the meticulous approach being taken as the release nears. He has reinstated a key promise: PMDG will give at least two weeks’ advance notice of the release date.

PMDG 777 MSFS release date

Randazzo’s latest update provides crucial insights into the final stages of the 777-300ER’s development. The PMDG team’s recent silence, a deliberate part of their strategy, signals their deep focus on finalizing the aircraft. This quiet period typically indicates that they are ironing out the last details, a phase that often sees a significant increase in workload.

In the past few weeks, the PMDG 777-300ER has undergone extensive enhancements, including the integration of advanced datalink capabilities and a shift to a more robust navigation database. These improvements unlock enhanced RNP/RNAV functionalities and allow for finer visual and sound refinements based on the latest beta testing feedback. Randazzo expressed considerable satisfaction with the latest build, noting its high state of readiness and feature completeness.

Despite the progress, the release date remains under wraps, with Randazzo noting, “When we are finished,” as the timeline for launch. Importantly, he confirmed that PMDG would provide a two-week notice before the actual release, ensuring that simmers have ample time to prepare and will not be taken by surprise.

Other Updates

Aside from the 777 updates, PMDG has been troubleshooting issues with the 737 series on the Xbox platform, particularly connectivity problems with the tablet interface. Additionally, PMDG announced their withdrawal from FSExpo 2024 due to scheduling conflicts that arose from the intensive development cycle of the 777.
