SimWorks Studios releases Airvan’s SystemsPulse expansion for MSFS 2024

It's the studio's attempt at deep systems simulation on a general aviation airframe.

When SimWorks Studios put the GA-8 Airvan on the Marketplace last August, the base aircraft had a clear road to MSFS 2024, but its most ambitious feature did not. SystemsPulse, the optional expansion that turns the rugged Australian hauler into a maintenance-aware machine, shipped only for MSFS 2020, held back by a backwards-compatibility limitation. That changes now as SystemsPulse just became available for MSFS 2024, so simmers on the newer sim can finally run the Airvan with the full systems experience attached.

For anyone who missed the original rollout, SystemsPulse is the studio’s attempt at deep systems simulation on a general aviation airframe. SWS describes individually simulated components across each system, from the fuel filter to the oil pump, so that parts behave on their own. Wear and tear is tied to how and where you fly, with the developer listing sand, rain, humidity, temperature, and even pilot finesse among the factors that feed into an airframe’s condition.

There’s also an interesting level of persistence. According to SWS, parts do not just remember the state you left them in, they also age while the sim is closed. Take a week off, the developer suggests, and you could fire up the sim to find an oil change already due. The SWS tablet sits at the center of all this. From there you can set how quickly the aircraft ages, trigger failures at random or on demand, and carry out repairs without leaving the cockpit.

Then there is the cascading behavior, which is where SystemsPulse tries to separate itself from a simple failure roulette. SWS says a single fault can set off a chain reaction, so a failed oil pump can lead to an overheating engine and an overspeeding propeller rather than one isolated warning light. The studio counts more than 70 possible faults across seven systems: fuel, engine, accessory housing, oil, propeller, electrical, and brakes. That spans spark plug fouling and magneto trouble, metal chip contamination in the oil, governor faults, and a total brake failure, among others.

A couple of things are worth knowing before you reach for your wallet. SystemsPulse is an expansion, not a standalone product, so it requires the GA-8 Airvan Basic Edition for MSFS 2024 already in your hangar.

If you bought SystemsPulse for MSFS 2020, the 2024 version comes free: SWS says you add it to your cart and the upgrade applies automatically at checkout. The developer has also confirmed the Marketplace release has been greenlit and is on its way, so anyone who prefers to keep purchases in-sim should not have to wait much longer.
