It actually happened. After a January window that came and went, months of silence, and a final stretch of intensive bug fixing, NextGen Simulations’ EMB-110 Bandeirante v2 is finally available on the MSFS 2024 in-game Marketplace for PC and Xbox. When we covered the announcement last week, developer Carlos Daniel González Gómez was careful to frame mid-June as a target rather than a promise. This time, he delivered right on schedule.
For those just catching up, this is a significant moment for the one-man Colombian studio. The Bandeirante v2 is NextGen’s first new product since the original EMB-110 launched for MSFS 2020, and it arrives as a ground-up rebuild that takes full advantage of the MSFS 2024 platform, with four variants built on a modular SimObjects architecture, a substantially reworked soundscape, and overhauled aircraft systems. If you want the full background on what changed and why the project took as long as it did, our January coverage of the v2 announcement tells that story.
Documentation is live, but some extras are still cooking
Alongside the release, the product’s documentation is now available on the NextGen Simulations website. That includes the user manual and the checklists, which the developer notes are identical to the interactive checklists built into the sim.
Not everything promised for launch is ready yet, though. The developer says he is still working on the repaint kit and its documentation, as well as the tutorial flight, and will announce those once they’re done. Given the pace of communication over the past week, we’d expect those to follow reasonably soon, but no dates have been given.
Third-party stores: a month or two away
If you were planning to buy through SimMarket, iniBuilds, or Just Flight, you’ll be waiting a little longer. The developer reiterates that the staggered rollout is partly an anti-piracy measure, as explained in the previous development update, but adds that the buffer also gives him time to iron out any bugs that surface with Career Mode compatibility or the product in general before it reaches a wider audience.
The upgrade path, when it arrives, will work the same way across all three third-party stores. As covered in our previous article, existing owners of the MSFS 2020 version can upgrade for $13.99 / €13.99, while new buyers pay $34.99 / €34.99, both excluding VAT.
PS5 remains in a holding pattern
For PlayStation 5 simmers, the answer is still “not yet, and not up to me.” The developer says a PS5 release depends entirely on either receiving a direct invitation from Microsoft to publish there, or on Microsoft and Sony opening up third-party content deployment to all developers. Until one of those happens, the PS5 version stays on hold.
The Saabs are back on the bench
Perhaps the most encouraging note for the long game: with the Bandeirante out the door, Gómez confirms he is resuming work on the Saab projects while wrapping up the v2’s post-launch tasks. He’s honest about the road so far, describing the development process as a mess after numerous challenges and setbacks, including an HDD crash, but says he keeps going regardless. The Saabs will prioritise MSFS 2024, with a tentative Q3 or Q4 2027 window that the developer himself treats as flexible.
