When MK Studios announced Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport back in May, they also hinted that Miami International was already in active development. At the time it was a footnote, a “by the way.” Now the developer has made it official: KMIA is confirmed for MSFS 2024, with a planned release in the second half of Q3 2026.
That puts the target window somewhere between August and September, give or take. It’s not an imminent release, but having a confirmed timeframe is more than most scenery announcements offer this early in development.
Before Miami arrives, MK Studios says two other airports will come first: Tenerife South (GCTS) and Vágar Airport (EKVG) in the Faroe Islands. It’s an interesting contrast in scope, one of Europe’s busiest holiday destinations paired with one of the most dramatic and remote approaches on the continent.
As we noted when MK Studios released KFLL, Fort Lauderdale and Miami together form the backbone of South Florida’s aviation corridor, and having both from the same developer makes the region considerably more interesting for commercial pilots. KMIA is one of the busiest international airports in the US and handles an enormous volume of traffic to and from Central and South America, so it’s a natural anchor point for anyone doing that kind of flying.
Not much new in terms of screenshots or feature details, so expect to see proper previews throughout the summer.
