The CSS 737 Classic community has been sitting on a “coming soon” for the -300 and -400 for a while, but that wait is apparently ending this week. CSS confirmed yesterday that both variants are releasing within the next few days, and packaged the news with a handful of other announcements worth checking out.
Chief among them is the identity of the sound pack partner. CSS had been referring to a collaboration with a “well-known company” for some time without naming them, which predictably sent the community into speculation mode. That company is now confirmed to be Immersive Audio, who also worked on the audio overhaul of the MaddogX.
The new sound pack is currently in testing and debugging, with an expected release within the next month. All existing CSS 737 users will get it as a free update, included as part of the product.
Pricing and where to buy
The $45 per-variant standalone pricing that CSS introduced back in November isn’t changing, but the product is now coming to more stores. In addition to the CSS Launcher and simMarket, the 737 Classic will be available through Aerosoft, Contrail, and Orbx at launch. CSS notes that prices may be slightly higher in partner stores. The temporary license option remains exclusive to the CSS Launcher.
Owners of the $120 permanent license don’t need to do anything: the -300 and -400 will be available to them at no additional cost on release day, as was promised when the pricing model was restructured.
A new website and a trailer
CSS has also launched a new website at css.aero, including a Knowledge Base section with answers to the most common questions.
The announcement also came with an official pre-release trailer, which gives a first proper look at both variants ahead of release.
