Xbox players have been asking for Volanta for a long time. The feature request has sat on Orbx’s feedback board for years, and it’s easy to see why: the ability to track your flights on a live map, log them automatically, and see where everyone else in the community is flying has been one of the most compelling parts of the PC experience.
As of today, console players finally get their version of that.
Orbx has released Volanta for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on Xbox, marking the first time the flight tracking tool has been available on console. It’s listed on the in-game Marketplace at €5.59 (or $4.99 in USD). The PC version remains free, but Microsoft requires a minimum price for Marketplace listings, which accounts for the cost on console.

The setup works a bit differently from the PC version, by necessity. Rather than running alongside the sim on the same machine, the Xbox version acts as a transmitter. You launch a flight, open the Volanta panel from the MSFS toolbar, and a unique connection code appears on screen. You then head to fly.volanta.app on any secondary device, whether that’s your phone, a tablet, or a laptop, enter the code, and your flight starts appearing live on the map. Volanta says that once the panel window is open and active, tracking continues in the background without interrupting your flight on the big screen.
The feature set carries over from the PC experience: real-time map tracking across a global community of simmers (not just MSFS 2024 users, but also MSFS 2020, X-Plane, DCS World, and more), automatic flight logging, aircraft history, stats, and social features including friends and profile customisation.

Worth noting: Volanta says the Xbox version is also compatible with Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce NOW, but it’s not currently available on PlayStation.
For Xbox players who have wanted a proper logbook and live tracking setup, this is the first real option. It’s not quite as frictionless as the PC version given the two-device requirement, but the core functionality is there.
You can find Volanta on the MSFS 2024 in-game Marketplace, and more details on setup are available at volanta.app/console.
